- 1 codebase shipping iOS and Android from day one
01
The problem
ArDrive stores files permanently for a one-time payment, with no subscription and no company that can shut it down. It needed a mobile app, built from the ground up, that made Web3 storage feel as simple as an ordinary cloud drive.
02
Constraints
Wallets, encryption and on-chain payments are unforgiving. A lost key or a broken upload is permanent. The app also had to run on both iOS and Android without two separate teams.
03
Decisions & trade-offs
Flutter, so one codebase covers both platforms. Encryption on the device, so private drives stay private until download. A QR wallet sync and a guided first run, because onboarding is where Web3 apps lose people.
- OAuth login and Arweave wallet create, manage and sync
- Encrypted uploads for private drives
- A full file explorer: upload, move, rename, share and view
- Native photo and file pickers, with payment in AR tokens
04
What I built
The mobile app end to end, plus Web3 architecture consulting and training so the internal team could own it afterwards.
