01
The problem
Most of the world’s food comes from more than 500 million small family farms, and most of them run on pen and paper. Platfarm set out to give them a real operating system.
02
Constraints
Farms have poor connectivity, many languages and users who aren’t technical. Software that fails offline is useless in a field.
03
Decisions & trade-offs
Offline-first was the core architectural decision.
- A real-time Meteor app with offline databases and browser caching
- A user-generated translation engine for new markets
- Reactive form validation for fast, correct data capture
- CSV import and export shaped to how farmers already work
04
What I did
Designed the architecture, built the application, hired and led the engineering team, and led UX.
